Aren not only serves as a source of food and raw materials, but also has great potential in storing carbon in biomass, so that it can contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the local and global levels. This study aims to determine the composition of plant species, stand structure, biomass potential, carbon storage, carbon dioxide (CO₂) sequestration, and the economic value of carbon sequestration in litter, understorey, and aren palm stands in Buluh Awar Village. The research was conducted from September 2024 to December 2024. The method used was vegetation analysis with a plot approach, where the data collected included plant species, number of individuals, tree diameter, age of the aren palm, frond-free height, and total tree height. Biomass estimation was conducted using the no-harvesting and harvesting methods, while the economic value of carbon sequestration was calculated based on a carbon price of US$10 per ton of CO₂. The results showed that the species composition at the research site consisted of 14 plant species with a total of 1,167 individuals. Species composition analysis showed the dominance of Arenga pinnata in various stratum stands. Biomass calculation showed the highest potential in tree stands (41.910 tons/ha), followed by stems, fronds, and leaves. The highest carbon storage was also found in tree stands (19.7 tons C/ha). The largest CO2 uptake was found in tree stands (72.3 tons/ha), followed by litter and understorey. The economic value of carbon sequestration in Buluh Awar Village reached Rp 33,200,866.44. This research is expected to be the basis for sustainable forest resource management and support climate change mitigation policies at the regional and national levels.en_US
