Kelelahan Terkait Kanker dan Kesiapan Aktivitas Fisik pada Pasien Kanker Payudara di RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan

Abstract

Breast cancer patients undergoing treatment often experiencing debilitating fatigue, which, if not properly managed, can significantly impact their quality of life. Physical activity has been shown to alleviate fatigue symptoms and enhance patients' quality of life; however, their physical readiness must be assessed before initiating such activities. This study aims to identify cancer-related fatigue and readiness for physical activity among breast cancer patients at RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan. A descriptive research design was employed with a sample of 80 participants selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that the majority of respondents were aged 46—55 years (47.5%), female (98.8%), diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer (50.0%), undergoing chemotherapy (96.3%), receiving cycles of therapy (82.5%), and had been living with cancerfor more than one year (71.3%). The findings also reveal that 55.0% of respondents experienced severe cancer-related fatigue, while 52.5% were categorized as not readyforphysical activity. These results highlight the needfor healthcare providers to increase awareness regarding cancer-relatedfatigue andpatients' readinessfor physical activity, as well as to carefully monitor these symptoms to alleviate patient suffering.
