QR Code is one of the technologies that has been widely implemented across various
fields as a medium for storing and exchanging information quickly and accurately.
However, QR Code also has security vulnerabilities due to its easily accessible and
modifiable nature, which can be exploited by irresponsible parties. This poses a risk of
information misuse, such as data theft or redirection to malicious websites. To address
this issue, this study proposes the implementation of a hybrid cryptosystem by combining
the RC4 and Rabin P algorithms to enhance data security in QR Codes. RC4 is used as
a symmetric encryption algorithm that offers efficient data processing, while Rabin P
serves as an asymmetric encryption algorithm to secure the RC4 key. The system is
implemented as an Android application developed using the Kotlin programming
language and a local SQLite database. The application is designed to encrypt, generate,
and scan secure QR Codes. The findings of this study indicate that the combination of
RC4 and Rabin P algorithms can strengthen security aspects and ensure the authenticity
of data embedded in QR Codes. This system is expected to serve as an effective solution
in maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of QR Code-based information.
