Employees from generation Z are now showing a tendency to change jobs
frequently or job hopping. One aspect that influences this behavior is affective
commitment, which is a form of employee emotional attachment and feelings of
membership in the organization. When employees have the perception that their
organization provides sufficient affective commitment, these employees will have
work engagement, which is a behavior that reflects their attachment to the
workplace, with the aim of supporting the achievement of organizational or
company values and targets. The purpose of this study is to determine whether
work engagement can mediate the influence between affective commitment on job
hopping intention in generation z employees in Medan. The hypothesis proposed
is that work engagement can mediate the influence between affective commitment
on job hopping intention in generation z employees in Medan. The research
method used is quantitative correlation with multiple linear analysis using path
analysis and Sobel test as data analysis methods. The results of this research
hypothesis test show that the two tailed value is at 0.0071 <0.05 (alpha) so that the
hypothesis in this study is accepted. This means that work engagement can
mediate the influence between affective commitment on job hopping intention in
generation z employees in Medan.
