Advances in digital technology make information can be accessed quickly and
easily, including for business purposes. However, many MSMEs still have
difficulty using technology, especially social media, due to a lack of knowledge and
skills. Rumah BUMN Medan helps MSMEs actors’s utilize social media as an
effective promotion and marketing tool, especially the Instagram platform, so that
they can compete in the growing digital era. This study aims to determine the role
of social media in increasing sales of MSMEs assisted by Rumah BUMN Medan.
This research is a descriptive study with qualitative approach, which was carried
out through interviews with MSMEs actors’s assisted by Rumah BUMN Medan as
a data collection method. The results showed that social media plays an important
role in increasing sales of MSMEs assisted by Rumah BUMN Medan through
product introduction and broad market reach. Based on the research results, it can
be concluded that social media, especially Instagram, helps increase the sales of
MSMEs assisted by Rumah BUMN Medan and encourage their business
development.
