dc.description.abstract | Currently, Medan City is facing a phenomenon known as "terminal tumpah" or "terminal liar", referring to the activities of loading and unloading passengers of AKDP (Antar Kota Dalam Provinsi) and AKAP (Antar Kota Antar Provinsi) along Jl. Jamin Ginting. To address this transportation issue, Pinang Baris Terminal has been provided as the official terminal, but it is relatively far from Karo and Southeast Aceh regencies as the actual destination of the passengers. In this context, planning a bus terminal at Simpang Pos is important to be developed into a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area that serves as a transit hub. It wouldn’t only connect to existing transportation networks, such as Trans Metro Deli, Electric Buses, and Angkutan Kota, but also to the planned sky railway network in Medan by 2030. Simpang Pos can provide an effective travel route as it is located at the intersection of three primary arterial roads and only 1.7 km away from the Polonia TOD center. Supporting facilities, such as accommodations, are planned to optimize land use and improve passenger accessibility in line with the TOD concept. Additionally, the bus terminal will feature amenities such as a café, nursing room, prayer room, and oukup facilities for relaxation to help bus passengers recover from long journeys. Through this architectural planning approach, the Simpang Pos Bus Terminal can address the "terminal tumpah" phenomenon, encourage the use of public transportation, ease traffic flow, boost the economy, and enhance tourism in Karo, Samosir, Simalungun, and many other bus destinations. | en_US |
