    Abstract
A study on the potential of moringa leaf extract (Moringa oleifera) as a biostimulant for the growth of kale (Brassica oleracea L.) in a Wick Hydroponic system was conducted from December 2023 to April 2024 at the Research Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, and the Physiology and Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara. This study aimed to determine the best ratio of moringa leaf extract for the growth of kale plants in wick hydroponics. The study used a Non-Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments of moringa leaf extract concentrations (0%; 1.6%; 3.3%; 5%; 6.6%) and a control treatment without moringa leaf extract. The results showed that moringa leaf extract had a significant effect on the ratio of dry weight of the root-shoot of kale grown in the wick hydroponic system and tended to increase it. The 5% concentration treatment showed the highest result (0.15) for the dry weight root-shoot ratio, while the control and the 1.6% treatment showed the lowest result (0.05) for this variable. The moringa leaf extract did not have a significant effect on plant height (cm), number of leaves, fresh weight of shoots (g), dry weight of shoots (g), dry weight of roots (g), or relative growth rate (cm/day).
