| dc.description.abstract | Laundry in a hospital is a workplace that is very susceptible to accidents and occupational diseases in every work process because during the linen management process, namely taking dirty linen, washing dirty linen, drying linen, ironing linen, folding linen and distributing clean linen to each patient room, can be a place for the growth of pathogenic microorganisms or an intermediary medium for the spread of germs from one person to another. Therefore, it is necessary to use personal protective equipment in every linen management process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in laundry workers at the University of North Sumatra Hospital (USU Hospital) Medan City. This type of research is a qualitative research by conducting in-depth interviews and then analyzed using interactive analysis by Miles and Huberman. The research subjects in this study amounted to 6 workers in the laundry unit. The results of the study found that laundry unit workers who use personal protective equipment in full are due to understanding the importance of using complete personal protective equipment while working. Laundry unit workers who do not use personal protective equipment due to limited personal protective equipment such as booth shoes, heat-resistant gloves and the ignorance of workers with the availability of additional personal protective equipment such as hazmat footwear. Therefore, the researcher advises the USU Hospital to provide personal protective equipment as needed in the laundry unit and provide strict sanctions on workers who do not use complete personal protective equipment such as work clothes, aprons, booth shoes, hats / headgear, mask, google goggles, long rubber gloves, shoes/sandals, heat-resistant gloves, face shields, hazmat clothes, and hazmat footwear.
