    Abstract
One of the activities that can be developed to utilize the economic potential of natural resources in the form of the existence of animals while maintaining their sustainability is educational tourism. Educational tourism is a tourism concept that combines recreational and educational activities in one activity that has learning elements. This study aims to identify the potential of natural resources that support the development of educational tourism based on the coexistence of humans and orangutans so that it can provide economic benefits for the community and education for students at the elementary school level, to examine existing coexistence-based educational tourism models and then design a conceptual model of educational tourism that has aspects of orangutan conservation, community empowerment, and educational value for students at the elementary school level, and to examine the prospects for educational tourism based on the coexistence of humans and orangutans among elementary school students. This study used a qualitative approach with observation and in-depth interviews with resource persons, namely the community, students, teachers, tour guides, conservation activists, and government agencies. The data obtained were analyzed using Miles and Huberman data analysis, descriptive analysis and qualitative analysis. The results of this study indicate that there are various potential educational tourism activities that can be carried out in several locations in the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra and several existing educational tourism models which are then applied in areas where orangutans are present for the implementation of educational tourism based on the coexistence of humans and orangutans. In addition, the results of this study also show that the prospect of educational tourism involving orangutans is very interesting for students to do so that this activity has high potential. This research is expected to provide information on the potential and what kind of model can be applied when educational tourism involving the coexistence of humans and orangutans is carried out.
