Green Layout Design Proposal at CV. Teknologi Tepat Guna with Group Technology Layout and 5S Method
Abstract
CV. Teknologi Tepat Guna is a company that produces various types of
agricultural tools and machinery, including candlenut shell breaking machines,
palm kernel threshing machines, grass chopping machines with the highest
demand in 2024. This company has a common problem, namely the company's
inability to complete production targets within a predetermined timeframe. The
general problem is a result of the inefficiency of the production trajectory due to
the high production waste that hinders material flow and also the irregular
placement of work stations, namely backtracking, by-passing, cross movement,
and material movement between stations that are far apart. This problem can be
solved by designing Green Layout using Group Technology Layout and 5S. This
research aims to design a production floor layout that can reduce the amount of
production waste, minimize distance, total displacement moments, and material
handling costs, with a line efficiency rate above 75%. The results of this study
showed a decrease in the amount of production waste from 163.71 kg per month
to 68.61 kg per month, and reduced the total distance of displacement on the
production floor from 700 meters to 613.8 meters. The total displacement moment
on the production floor also showed a decrease from 20,935 meters/month to
12,684.2 meters/month. Material Handling costs on the production floor also
decreased from Rp 2,500,000/month to Rp 1,514,712/month. Layout selected
using Group Technology Layout with a line efficiency rate of 80.81. Based on the
selected proposed layout obtained an increase in the number of products that
were previously 7 units to 11 units. The proposed Green Layout is able to
increase productivity as seen through an increase in the achievement of
production targets by 26.67% for hazelnut shell breaking machine products,
38.46% for palm brondol threshing machine products and 38.71% for grass
chopper machine products.
