Dampak Revitalisasi Kawasan Kota Lama Kesawan Medan Terhadap Omzet Penjualan dan Kesejahteraan Para Pelaku UMKM

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the revitalization of the Kesawan Old Town area in Medan on the sales turnover and the welfare of MSME actors. The type of research used is a comparative method with a quantitative approach and descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. The population used in this study were MSME actors in the Livelihood Activities and Micro Enterprise culinary groups in the Kesawan Old Town area in Medan. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by observation, interviews, documentation, and also distributing questionnaires. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling approach and used 50 respondents as a sample of the study. Data analysis was carried out using non-parametric statistical analysis, namely the wilcoxon signed ranks test with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that there were differences in the sales turnover of MSME actors before and after the revitalization of the area, in terms of increase and there were also differences in the welfare of MSME actors before and after the revitalization of the area, in terms of increase. The impression of MSME actors on the condition of the Kesawan Old Town area in Medan after the revitalization of the area is that they are satisfied because the area has become nicer, tidier, cleaner, the creation of a better regional arrangement, so that currently the area has many photo spots, and there has never been flooding again after the revitalization of the area. The thing that causes sales turnover to increase after the revitalization of the area is due to the arrival of visitors who become more crowded than before the revitalization. Moments such as Saturday night, Car Free Day every Sunday morning, beautiful decorations during celebrations of religious holidays, and promotions by the government on social media are things that cause the sales turnover of MSME actors to increase. As for the welfare aspects of MSME actors who experienced significant changes, including the comfort and tranquility of carrying out business activities, because after revitalization, the area became cleaner, brighter, and never flooded again, there were also MSME actors who experienced an increase in income, an increase in business assets, and an increase in personal assets purchased through income from selling in the Kesawan Old Town area in Medan after the revitalization of the area.
