    Abstract
Fish diversity in an area illustrates the richness of fish in the waters of Pangkalan Susu. With economic needs and high demand, the fish in Pangkalan Susu waters will continue to be caught by fishermen, so research on fish diversity is needed to see the condition of fish resources in Pangkalan Susu waters. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphology and diversity of fish in Pangkalan Susu waters and the relationship of fish diversity with water quality in Pangkalan Susu waters. This research was conducted in March-June 2024. The method used in this study is random sampling, which is the determination of sampling points according to the fishing ground based on the catch of fishermen with research from June- August. The results of sampling conducted in June-August in the milk base, Langkat district, North Sumatra province, obtained 697 fish individuals consisting of 30 families and 52 species, the number of fish individuals in June 144 individuals, July 330 individuals, and August 223. Analysis of the relationship between diversity and water quality parameters using PCA analysis found that in table 10 based on species, the brightness parameter is positively correlated with diversity, while temperature, pH, salinity and DO are negatively correlated. In table 11 based on the fish family, it is found that the DO parameter is positively correlated with diversity while the temperature, brightness, pH, salinity parameters are negatively correlated with diversity.
