This study is motivated by the phenomenon of Indonesia’s accession to BRICS. Indonesia’s decision to join BRICS represents an intriguing development, considering the country’s historical closeness to Western nations and its foreign policy principle of being independent and active (free-active). Therefore, it is important to examine the perceptions of university students, as members of the academic community, regarding Indonesia’s accession to BRICS. This study employs the theories of International Regimes, International Cooperation, and Perception as its theoretical framework. The research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The results indicate that BRICS, as an international regime, and Indonesia’s accession to BRICS as a form of international cooperation, influence students’ perceptions concerning the urgency of Indonesia joining BRICS.en_US
