dc.description.abstractThis study examines the verb 'love' in Indonesia and arabic from a cross-linguistic perspektif. The research aims to analyze categorization, similarities and differences in meaning, and semantic roles, The study employs the natural semantic metalanguage (NSM) theory and the semantic Role continnum (SRC) theory. Data were collected through questionnaires and written texts, including newspapers and novels, using observation and elicitation methods the data were analyzed using distributional and identity methods and presented in bath formal and informal stayles. The findings reveal that the verb 'love' comprises nine subcategories: (1) ' I want to do good things to Y. ' (2) ' I want to do something very bad to Y. ' (3) 'I want to be like Y if I can. ' (4) 'I want Y to know this. ' (5) 'I want to be close to Y now. ' (6) 'I want Y to feel good about me. ' (7) 'I want this to happen to me. ' (8) 'I do (9) ' I want something bad to hapeen to Y. ' The similarities and differences in meaning are distinguished by specific semantic componemts. The semantic roles of the verb 'love' in Indonesian and Arabic are marked by primary relationships such as experiencer-stimulus, experiencer-theme, and experiencer-locative.en_US
