dc.description.abstractThe rapid advancement of technology has brought progress in various aspects of life. One area that has significantly evolved is the financial sector, particularly in the realm of online lending (Financial Technology). The ease of access and fast processes are among the main drivers behind the growth of online lending applications. This study focuses on the following research problembs, 1) What is the legal status of online lending in Indonesia as a form of financial Technology? 2) What are the forms of consumer losser caused by the misuse of online loan collection practices 3) What is the role of the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK) in providing consumer protection against the misuse of online loan collection practices?. Therefore, this study discusses the role of the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK) in providing consumer protection against the misuse of debt collection practices in online lending. This research is a normative legal study supported by interviews. The data collection method used is library research. The research approaches applied are the statute approach and the conceptual approach. The data were analyzed using qualitative analysis. The role of the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK) in providing consumer protection against the misuse of debt collection practices in online lending is highly significant in terms of regulation, supervision, and consumer safeguarding. This is evidenced by OJK Regulation (POJK) No. 40 of 2024 concerning Information Technology-Based Joint Funding Services and POJK No. 22 of 2023 concerning Consumer and Community Protection in the Financial Services Sector. In addition, OJK has established the PASTI Task Force to combat the misuse of online loan collection practices and developed the APPK platform as a regulatory tool that allows the public to submit complaints related to the financial services sector.en_US
