The Influence of Financial Literacy on Personal Financial Management in Diploma Three Finance Students of the Vocational Faculty of the University of North Sumatra
Abstract
Rapid technological advances have brought many modern products to the market
without considering their benefits, especially for Diploma III Finance students at the
Vocational Faculty of the University of North Sumatra. The purpose of this study is to
determine the influence of financial literacy on the personal financial management of
Diploma III Finance students at the Vocational Faculty of the University of North
Sumatra. The researcher used a quantitative method with a total sample of 101
Diploma III Finance students at USU. Item variance testing was conducted through
validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression tests,
and hypothesis tests. The results of the study found that financial literacy significantly
influences the personal financial management of students by 55.8%, as calculated
using SPSS version 22, while the remaining 44.2% is influenced by other factors. To
address this issue, financial literacy needs to be further enhanced through student
activities such as workshops, seminars, and investment training.
