The Mindful Space: Children Focused ADHD Therapy Center
Abstract
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental
disorder that occur during the growth and development of children
characterized by difficulty in concentrating (inattention), responding without
considering emotions (impulsivity), and excessive levels of motor activity
(hyperactivity). Effective treatment often involves behavioral therapies, which
can be enhanced by well-designed therapeutic environments. As the thirdlargest city in Indonesia, Medan undoubtedly offers existing therapy facilities for children with ADHD. However, these facilities frequently lack a
comprehensive behaviorally informed design, potentially limiting the
environment's positive impact on therapeutic outcomes. A child-focused ADHD therapy center in Medan utilizing behavioral architecture approach aims to create a nurturing and secure space that transcends mere comfort, actively
contributing to the overall effectiveness of treatment. By strategically
integrating architectural elements–such as room layout, size, shape, materials, furniture arrangement, and color schemes in creating a calming and stimulating environment that caters to the specific needs of children with
ADHD, architectural elements can positively influence the therapeutic
experience.
