dc.description.abstractBackground: Figure of speech is a word that deviates from the literal meaning to create a more vivid or imaginative description and is often used in literature like poem. Objective: This paper aims to find out what types of figure of speech are found in five Christina Rossetti’s selected poems by the writer and what type of figure of speech is dominant used in these poems. Method: The writer use descriptive qualitative research method and data comes from lines of poem that contain figure of speech and the data source is five Christina Rossetti’s selected poems by the writer and comes from The Poetry Foundation website. Results: The results of the research show that there are nine types of figure of speech in five Christina Rossetti’s selected poems by the writer namely, simile, metaphor, personification, repetition, symbolism, euphemism, irony, paradox, and hyperbole. Metaphor is the most dominant types of figure of speech that appear in these poems. Conclusion: There are nine types of figure of speech in five Christina Rossetti’s selected poems by the writer and the most dominant is metaphor.en_US
