dc.description.abstract | Literature is a representation of life conveyed through the author’s imagination. As
one form of literary work, a novel does not merely present a story but also contains
perspectives on social conditions, including the image of women. This study aims
to examine the image of women in the novel Perempuan Bayangan by Netty
Vergiantini, focusing on the main character, Ningrum. The research employs
feminist literary theory and a descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data.
The analysis is centered on three main aspects of the female image: physical,
psychological, and social. (1) The physical image includes descriptions of the
character's body and appearance. (2) The psychological image reflects the
character’s mental condition, emotions, and way of thinking. (3) Meanwhile, the
social image is portrayed through the character's position in society and her
relationship with the surrounding environment. The results of the study indicate
that the image of women in this novel is predominantly reflected through the
physical aspect with 24 data points, followed by the psychological aspect with
15data points, and the social aspect with 6 data points. These three aspects are
interconnected in forming a complex portrayal of women within a patriarchal
society. | en_US |
