This design aims to detail and explore the field of cultural preservation of North Sumatra in Medan City by developing a preservation center in the core of Medan City through the neo-vernacular architectural approach method. Medan City is one of the centers of cultural diversity in Indonesia with high potential to be used as an example in cultural preservation in this era of globalization. This design not only aims to increase tourism in Medan City, but also to revive the spirit and enthusiasm of many people to participate in preserving local culture. In addition, this design can be a reflection of local wisdom and a means of interaction and education for the wider community. A series of activities were carried out, including field surveys, literature studies, and analysis of neo-vernacular architectural approaches in Medan City. The issues identified were the influence of globalization and rapid urbanization, challenges in the modern era to preserve culture, and others. The results showed that the application of neo-vernacular architecture approach can produce an aesthetic, functional, and dynamic design for the needs of today's society. The resulting design focuses on distinctive local and cultural elements to attract the attention of the public and tourists. Thus, it is hoped that the design of this preservation center can function properly, not only as a place to showcase culture and local wisdom but also as a place for artistic activities, cultural education, and community gatherings.en_US
