The title of this research is "The Practice of Social Penetration in Building Interpersonal Communication Among Users of the Bumble Dating App." The study aims to explain how social penetration practices are used to build interpersonal communication among Bumble dating app users. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with Bumble users and observation. The theoretical framework guiding this research is the Social Penetration Theory proposed by Altman and Taylor. The validity of the data was tested using source triangulation, involving Bumble users who have been using the app for approximately one year. The findings of this study reveal that social penetration practices among Bumble users occur through four stages. The orientation stage begins with greetings, small talk, and finding topics to discuss. The affective exploration stage involves asking personal questions and exchanging social media accounts, such as Instagram. The affective exchange stage is marked by more intense and open communication, often leading to a desire to meet in person. Finally, the stable exchange stage involves meeting and communicating face-to-face. Bumble users go through all four stages in building interpersonal communication.en_US
