Yami kawaii is a cultural phenomenon that emerged in Japan in the early 2010s. The term combines "yami" meaning dark or creepy, and "kawaii" meaning cute or adorable. This exploration seeks to understand the emergence of "yami kawaii" within Japanese culture and its evolution into a global trend in art and visual fashion. The findings will deepen our understanding of how "yami kawaii" reflects and influences current visual culture, both in Japan and worldwide. It reveals the interaction and conflict between darkness (yami) and cuteness (kawaii) in fashion and visual art. "Yami kawaii" addresses the complexity of conveying emotions, including darker ones, within a typically cute context, raising questions about how individuals respond to the tension between these conflicting aspects in their lives.en_US
