Manajemen Konflik Komunikasi Intrapersonal Pemain Judi Online Mahasiswa Universitas Sumatera Utara

Abstract

This study, titled "Intrapersonal Communication Conflict Management Among Online Gambling Students at the University of North Sumatra", aims to examine how students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the University of North Sumatra manage intrapersonal communication conflicts related to online gambling. Theoretical frameworks employed include Sigmund Freud's theory of the Id, Ego, and Superego, Expectancy Violation Theory by Judee K. Burgoon, and the Theory of Reasoned Action by Martin Fishbein. This research adopts a qualitative method, involving five informants who are students from various departments at the University of North Sumatra and engage in online gambling. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. To ensure the validity of the data, source triangulation involving a certified counsellor was utilized. The findings reveal that students experience internal conflict when engaging in online gambling and tend to adopt similar strategies in managing their intrapersonal conflicts. This research contributes valuable insights and recommendations for students at the University of North Sumatra as well as the broader public in managing the urge to participate in online gambling.
