dc.description.abstract | This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using bamboo fiber-reinforced ECC and bamboo textile-reinforced ECC layers in enhancing the flexural capacity of reinforced concrete beams. Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) is a cement-based composite material without coarse aggregates, reinforced with fibers to improve ductility. Bamboo fiber and bamboo textile are used as environmentally friendly alternative reinforcement materials, replacing synthetic fibers that are more expensive and less accessible in rural areas. The study was conducted with variations in fiber length and content (0.5 cm and 1.5%). The objective is to assess the influence of incorporating bamboo fiber and bamboo textile into ECC layers on the flexural capacity of reinforced concrete beams. The test specimens were reinforced concrete beams with dimensions of 150 cm × 13 cm × 27 cm, coated with mortar-ECC, bamboo fiber-ECC, and bamboo textile-ECC layers with thickness variations of 2 cm and 4 cm. Test results showed that the beam with a 2 cm thick bamboo textile-ECC layer (BBB+BTB2cm) achieved a flexural strength of 9.974 MPa and a final deflection of 34.975 mm, representing a 39.83% increase compared to the unreinforced beam (BBBN). This beam also exhibited a 9.29% increase in load capacity compared to the control beam without reinforcement. Meanwhile, the beam with a 4 cm thick bamboo fiber-ECC layer (BBB+BSB4cm) experienced a 5.75% increase in flexural load capacity, with a flexural strength of 9.652 MPa. This research demonstrates that the use of local bio-based materials such as bamboo fiber and bamboo textile in ECC mixtures effectively enhances the flexural performance of reinforced concrete structures and shows great potential as an eco-friendly and economical solution for structural strengthening applications. | en_US |
