dc.description.abstract | Indonesia is one of the largest kapok producing countries in the world.
Kapok fruit consists of 48% skin and 25% seeds. Kapok seeds contain 23% oil,
the main content is protein and gossypol. Utilization of Kapok seed oil as a raw
material for biodiesel, biodiesel is formed through a transesterification reaction in
which triglycerides will be reacted with alcohol with glycerol as a by-product.
Pre design of a Biodiesel manufacturing plant from kapok seed oil raw
materials using SrO-CaO catalyst through a transesterification process with a
production capacity of 3,700 tons/year and operating for 330 days a year. The
location of the factory is planned to be in the Manyar Sido Rukun Area, Manyar
District, East Java. The purpose of the pre-design of the Biodiesel factory is to
apply chemical engineering science which includes mass balance, energy balance,
equipment specifications, chemical engineering operations, utilities and other
parts of chemical engineering science.
The results of the economic evaluation of a biodiesel manufacturing plant
from cottonseed oil using the transesterification process as, total investment
cost of Rp.115.677.100.691, production cost of Rp.58.807.286.620, sales revenue
of Rp.168.372.309.600, net profit of Rp.77.760.038.507, profit margin (PM) of
65,929%, break even point (BEP) of 20,157%, return on investment (ROI) of
67,222%, pay out time (POT) of 1,48 years, return on network (RON) of 96,031%,
and internal rate of return (IRR) of 73,319%.
From the results of the economic aspect analysis, it can be concluded that
the biodiesel manufacturing plant from kapok seed oil with the transesterification
process is feasible to be established. | en_US |
