Pengaruh Penambahan Nanosilika Abu Cangkang Kelapa Sawit pada Bahan Basis Gigi Tiruan Resin Akrilik Polimerisasi Panas Terhadap Kekuatan Transversal
Effect of Addition of Palm Shell Ash Nanosilica to Denture Basee Material Heat Cured Acrylic Resin on Transverse Strength
Abstract
The denture base is the part of the denture that serves as a support and anchor for the denture. Generally, the material used for the denture base is heat-cured acrylic resin. A drawback of this material is its tendency to break easily. This issue can be addressed by enhancing the strength of the denture base material through the addition of coconut shell ash nanosilica. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of adding 5% and 6% coconut shell ash nanosilica to heat-cured acrylic resin denture base material on transverse strength. This study was conducted on samples with and without the addition of 5% and 6% coconut shell ash nanosilica. The study design was an experimental laboratory study with 30 samples measuring 65×10×2.5 mm. The samples were tested using a Universal Testing Machine to determine the transverse strength values. The data were analyzed using univariate tests to determine the mean and standard deviation, one-way ANOVA to determine the effect, and LSD test to determine significant differences. The results of this study showed that the mean and standard deviation of the control group were 74.38 ± 3.57 MPa, the 5% concentration group was 84.79 ± 2.91 MPa, and the 6% group was 94.42 ± 3.43 MPa. There was a significant effect with a p-value of 0.001. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect on the transverse strength of heat-cured acrylic resin denture bases after the addition of 5% and 6% concentrations of palm kernel shell ash nanosilica. The RAPP denture base material with the addition of 6% concentration of palm kernel shell ash nanosilica had the highest transverse strength value compared to the addition of 5% concentration of palm kernel shell ash nanosilica.
