    Abstract
This study focuses on the microstructural analysis of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) and Crumb Rubber-ECC (CR-ECC) mortar composites combined with porous styrofoam asphalt gravel, utilizing fly ash and rice husk ash (RHA) as environmentally friendly pozzolanic materials. The research involves microstructural characterization using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) on test specimens from compressive strength and fire resistance tests of various ECC and CR-ECC porous styrofoam asphalt gravel mortar composites. SEM observations were conducted to identify morphology, interfacial structure, pore distribution, and types of microcracks that occurred in the ECC and CR-ECC mortars. The results showed that variations of porous styrofoam asphalt gravel mortar composites with ECC and CR-ECC demonstrated good bonding between the asphalt gravel and the ECC matrix. The SEM images revealed few pores and microcracks caused by compressive testing, as well as asphalt loss due to fire resistance testing on the composite variations. Therefore, this study makes a significant contribution to the development of sustainable construction materials by not only utilizing industrial and agricultural waste but also offering competitive mechanical and microstructural performance. This research is expected to serve as a scientific reference for the development of environmentally friendly material standards for road pavements and modern concrete structural elements.
