Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that often goes unnoticed by sufferers until serious complications arise, affecting quality of life and requiring lifelong management. One essential aspect of diabetes management is foot care behavior. In this context, self-acceptance plays a crucial role in encouraging foot care among individuals with diabetes mellitus. A high level of self-acceptance can positively influence foot care behavior, enhancing motivation, confidence, and the ability to perform routine foot care practices. This study aims to identify the relationship between self-acceptance and foot care behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RS TK II Putri Hijau Medan. This research employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 200 individuals, and a sample of 67 participants was selected using accidental sampling. Research instruments included demographic data questionnaires, a self-acceptance questionnaire, and a foot care behavior questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation tests. The results showed a significant relationship between self-acceptance and foot care behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Approximately 77.0% of respondents had a high level of self-acceptance, and 91.0% demonstrated good foot care behavior. High self-acceptance enables individuals to better cope with the reality and changes brought about by diabetes, thereby increasing motivation and commitment to regular foot care routines.en_US
