This research is titled "Intercultural Communication Regarding Cultural Adaptation of Foreign Volunteers of Yayasan Sayap Proyek Indonesia (YASPI) (Case Study in Timbang Jaya Village, Bukit Lawang)". The purpose of this study is to find out what are the cultural adaptation processes that foreign volunteers of Yayasan Sayap Proyek Indonesia go through and to find out the results obtained from the cultural adaptation carried out by foreign volunteers of Yayasan Sayap Proyek Indonesia and also the local community. The study used in this study is the process of cultural adaptation and intercultural communication. The research method used by the researcher is a qualitative method with a constructivism paradigm. The technique in determining research informants uses a purposive informant determination technique involving four informants. The data collection techniques used are observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. This study involved 4 main informants and 3 additional informants who also acted as source triangulation. The main informants included Johann Heinze, Sebastian Keilholz, Laura from Germany and Patrice from France. Additional informants who also acted as source triangulation included Saudalat Purba as a community figure and inn owner, Namira Sinarta as executive director of YASPI and Risma Metty as canteen guard. The results of the study show that foreign volunteers in the cultural adaptation process experience four main phases, namely the anticipation or joy phase, the culture shock phase, the adjustment phase and ends in the adaptation phase. The cultural adaptation process is also carried out by the local community in order to realize a peaceful and peaceful life side by side with a group of individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
