Situational Awareness (SA) is an important cognitive aspect in driving activities,
as it enables drivers to recognize, understand, and predict the surrounding
conditions appropriately. The number of traffic accidents that occurred in
Indonesia was 146,854 cases and as many as 140,629 cases were caused by human
error. This study aims to analyze the influence of weather and traffic density on
driver situational awareness using two approaches, namely the SART questionnaire
and EEG waves. The study was conducted on six male respondents using a driving
simulator in four scenario combinations. SART data was analyzed using ANOVA
Repeated Measures, while EEG data (pre-post) was analyzed using Wilcoxon test.
The results showed that the highest and lowest average SA values were 20.5 and 15
when respondents performed the T3 and T2 scenarios. Based on statistical tests,
the results showed that there were significant differences between scenarios based
on SART scores with a value of p = 0.07 (p < 0.1). In the alpha wave, there was no
significant difference between pre- and post-driving conditions in the four
scenarios, while in the beta wave, there was a difference between pre- and post
driving conditions in scenario T3. This indicates that weather and traffic density
have an influence on driver concentration, which can increase driver cognitive
load.
