Dampak Sosial Ekonomi Keluarga terhadap Kejadian Stunting pada Anak di Kelurahan Lalang Kecamatan Medan Sunggal

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects children's physical growth and cognitive development, caused by poor nutritional intake and the influence of family socio-economic factors. Therefore, the participation of various parties is needed to work together to address this stunting problem. These efforts must be carried out optimally and consistently. Considering that the problem of stunting is not only matter of a child’s height and weight being below average but also has long term impacts on the child’s future. This study was conducted in Lalang Village, Medan Sunggal District. The aim is to determine the socio economic impact on the incidence of stunting in children in Lalang Village, Medan Sunggal District. The main informants in this study were health workers at the Lalang Village Health Center and the secretary of the Lalang village head. Key informants in this study were parents of children who experienced stunting. Additional informants in this study were neighbors and relatives of parents of children who experienced stunting. Data collection techniques were in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data obtained in the field were then analyzed by researchers who explained it qualitatively. Until finally a conclusion can be drawn from the results of the study. The results of the study showed an impact related to the socio-economic family with the incidence of stunting in children. In addition, researchers also conducted observations related to the factors causing stunting, it was found that the provision of Exclusive Breastfeeding, Genetic Factors, and the Environment did not have an impact on the incidence of stunting in Lalang Village.
