| dc.description.abstract | This study is about librarians' efforts in digital preservation of E-Local Content Collections at the Medan State University Library. This study aims to determine the efforts of librarians in digital preservation of e-local content collections at the Medan State University Library. The method used is a qualitative research method. Research data were obtained through interview, observation, and documentation methods. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the efforts of librarians in digital preservation activities of e-local content collections at the Medan State University Library have been running well. The e-local content collection at the Medan State University Library comes from theses, dissertations, articles, and research reports of lecturers. The preservation strategies carried out by librarians are technology preservation strategies, refreshing, migration and reformatting activities, and emulation. In technology preservation, librarians maintain and care for the hardware and software used in digital preservation of e-local content collections. In refreshing activities, librarians copy data and then transfer it to more sophisticated media in accordance with technological developments and are carried out every six months. Librarians migrate without having to change the intellectual value content in digital collections. Librarians also emulate data by backing up files that have been previously grouped, then copying files with different formats and then saving them to the server. The results of the study also show that digital preservation is very important, especially in e-local content collections, to ensure that the collection is managed properly so that it can continue to be used and accessed by users for a long period of time. | en_US |
