The demand for linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid, continues to rise annually in Indonesia, as evidenced by the consistently high import volumes. Linoleic acid is a widely used chemical additive and an essential omega-6 fatty acid crucial for human growth and development. It also serves as a fatty acid supplement in pharmaceuticals, an emulsifier in food products, and an ingredient in skincare formulations. This pre-design study proposes a linoleic acid production plant using candlenut seeds through the Colgate Emery hydrolysis process, with a capacity of 4,500 tons/year, operating 330 days annually. The plant will be located in Parungmulya, Karawang, West Java, covering an area of 18,161 m², and structured as a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line-and-staff organization, employing 171 workers. Economic analysis reveals an investment cost of IDR 897.31 billion, production costs of IDR 853.97 billion, and sales revenue of IDR 1,058.33 billion, yielding a net profit of IDR 155.42 billion. Key feasibility indicators Profit Margin (18.83%), Break-Even Point (BEP) (34.15%), Return on Investment (ROI) (17.32%), Pay Out Time (POT) (5,7 years), Return on Net Worth (RON) (28.87%), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) (18.30%) confirm the plant's economic viability.en_US
