    Abstract
The synthesis of methyl oleate from oleic acid and methanol through esterification has been performed using homogeneous dispersion equipment and lipase enzyme as a catalyst. This study focuses on the effect of variations in the weight of the lipase enzyme catalyst and the mol ratio between oleic acid and methanol. The formation of methyl oleate was confirmed using FT-IR spectroscopy and GC, while the conversion rate was determined using alkalimetric titration. The maximum conversion methyl oleate of 96.1 ± 0.6 was achieved under the reaction conditions of catalyst weight of 25%, mol ratio of 1:3, 20-minutes of reaction time, and 3000 rpm of stirring speed for both parameters of catalyst weight and mol ratio. The formation of ester groups in methyl oleate is indicated by the appearance of a peak at a wavelength of 1744.4 cm-1, which is the stretching vibration of the -C=O methyl ester group, and is supported by the presence of three absorption bands of the stretching vibration of the -C-O-C- ester group at wavelengths of 1244.9-1170.4 cm-1 and the results of methyl oleate gas chromatography analysis showed that methyl ester conversion reached 97.20%.
