Analisis kandungan Logam berat Besi, Tembaga, dan Mangan Pada Road Dust Resuspension-Suspension (RDR-S) di Jalan Jamin Ginting
Analysis Of Heavy Metal Content Of Iron, Copper And Manganese In Road Dust Resuspension-Suspension (RDR-S) On Jamin Ginting Road
Abstract
This study aims to determine the concentration and compare heavy metals in
road dust Road Dust Resuspension-suspension (RDR-S) at two identical locations on
Jamin Ginting Road in Medan. The analysis of metal concentrations focused on iron
(Fe), copper (Cu) and manganese (Mn). Road dust samples were collected using a
portable vacuum at two locations. Metal concentration testing was conducted using
Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) with a 200-
mesh sieve. To analyse metal concentrations using the ICP-OES instrument, a
destruction process is required, specifically wet destruction using a method
compliant with SNI 8910: 2021, which involves mixing HNO₃ and distilled water in a
1:1 ratio, heating the mixture, adding H₂O₂, reheating, adding HCl, reheating again,
cooling, filtering, and diluting in a volumetric flask. The concentrations of Iron (Fe),
Copper (Cu), and Manganese (Mn) obtained at point 1 are as follows: for Iron (Fe),
the concentration is 6.87 mg/L; for Copper (Cu), the concentration is 0.03 mg/L; and
for Manganese (Mn), the concentration is 108.8 mg/L. At point 2, the concentrations
obtained were 8.63 mg/L for iron (Fe), 0.80 mg/L for copper (Cu), and 155 mg/L for
manganese (Mn). These concentrations were determined using the Least Squares
method, calibration curves, and concentration determination of the solution. This
study is expected to provide scientific information on the causes of air pollution
caused by road dust and raise awareness of its impacts on human health and the
environment
