Anxiety is a common psychological response experienced by breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This anxiety can cause discomfort and disrupt the healing process and overall quality of life. The objective of this study was to identify the effectiveness of autogenic relaxation on anxiety levels in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Murni Teguh Hospital Medan. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. Data were collected using the Zung Self-Anxiety Scale (ZSAS) questionnaire. A total of 64 respondents were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of 32 individuals in the control group and 32 in the intervention group. Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test showed a significant difference in anxiety levels between the control and intervention groups after the autogenic relaxation intervention (p = 0.000). In conclusion, autogenic relaxation was found to be effective in reducing anxiety levels in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and is recommended as an independent nursing intervention in oncology nursing practice.en_US
