This study aims to determine the relationship between teacher stress and
teacher efficacy in teachers at SMK Negeri 6 Medan City. Teachers are the
spearhead in the education process, and teacher efficacy or teacher confidence in
their ability to teach greatly influences the success of the learning process.
However, in practice, teachers often face high work pressure, such as
administrative burdens, student behavioral challenges, and limited facilities that
can cause stress. The subjects of the study were 68 active teachers at SMK Negeri
6 Medan City who were taken using the total sampling technique. The instruments
used were the teacher stress scale and the teacher efficacy scale. The results of data
analysis using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test showed that there was
a significant negative relationship between teacher stress and teacher efficacy. The
results showed that the coefficient (rxy) = 0.72 was obtained with a p value of 0.01
(p <0.05). This means that the higher the level of stress experienced by teachers,
the lower their level of efficacy in teaching.
