Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that poses a significant health risk, often leading to serious complications such as heart disease and stroke. Non-pharmacological management, including herbal therapy using tomato juice, serves as a promising alternative due to its minimal side effects. This study employed a quantitative research method with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group approach. The study was conducted in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Aek Natolu Toba Samosir, with a total of 60 respondents selected through simple random sampling, consisting of 30 participants in the intervention group and 30 in the control group. Data were analyzed using the T-test. There was a significant difference in blood pressure before and after the intervention in both groups, with a mean difference in systolic pressure between the intervention and control groups of 13.73 mmHg, and in diastolic pressure of 4.69 mmHg. The P-values for systolic and diastolic pressure were both 0.000, indicating a statistically significant effect. These findings suggest that tomato juice herbal therapy has a significant effect in lowering blood pressure among hypertensive patients. Thus, tomato juice may be considered as a complementary non-pharmacological therapy in hypertension management.
