dc.description.abstract | Background: This study discusses the types of figures of speech used and identifies the most dominant figures of speech in Michael Bolton's songs. Objective: This study aims to describe the types of figures of speech found in Michael Bolton's song lyrics and to explain the meanings behind their use so that they can serve as references for literary appreciation learning and English language learning through songs.
Method: This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, using data in the form of excerpts from Michael Bolton's song lyrics, selected based on their popularity. The data collection techniques used include documentation, listening to the songs, recording, identifying, classifying, and explaining the meanings of figures of speech within the context of the lyrics.
Result: The results show that the types of figures of speech found in Michael Bolton's song lyrics include metaphor, paradox, repetition, personification, and hyperbole, with metaphor being the most dominant type.
Conclusion: The use of figures of speech in these song lyrics enhances the delivery of meaning and emotion in the songs, making the lyrics more profound and engaging for literary appreciation study. | en_US |
