Abstract
The marriage is scary phenomenon has become increasingly common among Generation Z women, particularly in Tanah Tinggi Village, Binjai Timur District, Binjai City. This study aims to understand how Generation Z women perceive the fear of marriage and the underlying factors that contribute to it. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants consist of one key informant from the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), four main informants who are unmarried Generation Z women, and one additional informant from the surrounding community. The findings reveal that the fear of marriage arises from various factors, such as fear of marital failure, uncertainty about the future, social pressure, fear of losing personal freedom, fear of life changes, and feelings of unpreparedness for marriage. Furthermore, statistical data on high divorce rates and domestic violence cases also reinforce negative perceptions of marriage. This phenomenon has led to a decline in marriage rates in the area, influencing demographic structure and long-term social development.
