| dc.description.abstract | Background: Literature is an effective way to convey moral values to readers through short stories that are interesting and easy to understand. Short stories are not only entertaining, but also full of important moral messages and life lessons that help build character.
Objective: This study aims to describe the moral values found in selected short stories by Idries Shah, focusing on three main principles: the principle of good attitude, the principle of justice, and the principle of self respect.
Method: The method used is qualitative, with a literature review and content analysis approach.
Results: This study analyzes five selected short stories by Idries Shah to identify the types and dominance of moral values in them. Using the moral principles of Franz Magnis-Suseno, three main values were found: good attitude, justice, and self-respect. The principle of good attitude appears in all five stories (50%), making it the most dominant moral value. The value of justice is found in three stories (30%). Meanwhile, the principle of self respect is seen in two stories (20%), shown through characters who keep their dignity and stay true to themselves even in difficult situations.
Conclusion: The results show that not all short stories contain all three moral principles at once. Some short stories only contain the principles of good attitude and justice, while others focused more on the principles of good attitude and self respect. These research show the variety of moral values in Idries Shah’s works, offering readers valuable material for reflection and learning in daily life. | en_US |
