Many small to medium-sized dental clinics in Indonesia still rely on manual or
semi-digital record-keeping systems that are unstructured, making them prone to
input errors, data duplication, and difficult service evaluation processes. This
condition directly affects the effectiveness of management and the quality of clinic
services. This study aims to design and develop SMILIS (Smart Dental Information
System), an application based on Microsoft Excel that supports systematic dental
clinic data recording and presents service information through interactive
dashboards. The research uses a System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
approach, with simulated (dummy) data created by the researcher as test input. The
application features include patient data entry, medical records, financial
transactions, and inventory management, supported by variable automation, basic
input validation, and thematic visualizations in the form of bar charts, pie charts,
key performance indicators, and an interactive calendar. The implementation
results show that SMILIS is capable of building relational data connectivity,
simplifying data recapitulation, and presenting visual information that is easily
understood by non-technical users. With its ease of use and system flexibility,
SMILIS serves as a practical and affordable digital transition solution for dental
clinics lacking integrated information systems, while also preparing them for a
future shift toward data- and technology-driven healthcare services.
