The Heritage Tropical Boutique Hotel with Tropical Architecture Approach
Hotel Butik Tropis Warisan Budaya dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Tropis
Abstract
Langkat Regency, which is located in North Sumatra Province, consists of 23 districts, 240 villages, and 37 urban wards. This region possesses significant tourism potential, as indicated by a consistent increase in tourist visits of approximately 70% per year. Nevertheless, the growth in visitor numbers has not been matched by the availability of adequate lodging facilities. Currently, the area is served by only 7 hotels, 70 guesthouses, and 4 homestays, with accommodations mostly concentrated in Stabat, Bahorok, Tanjung Pura, West Brandan, and Sei Bingai. Among these, Tanjung Pura holds strategic value due to its historical and religious tourism appeal; however, it lacks sufficient accommodation infrastructure. To address this issue, the development of a 3-star boutique hotel is proposed. The design will apply principles of Tropical Architecture to ensure climatic responsiveness and user comfort. In addition, adaptive reuse strategies will be integrated to preserve cultural values while meeting contemporary hospitality standards, supporting sustainable tourism development in the region.
