Designing a Biophilic Healing Space for Patients with Mental Disorders in Medan City
Perancangan Healing Space Berbasis Biofilik untuk Penderita Gangguan Mental di Kota Medan
Abstract
This design proposes a healing space with a biophilic concept in Medan City as an innovative solution to support the recovery of people with mild mental disorders. The biophilic concept, which integrates natural elements such as greenery, natural light, and water, was chosen to create a calming environment and facilitate mental balance. With a user needs-based approach and environmental analysis, the design is designed to optimize accessibility and create a space that is harmonious with the urban context of Medan City.
The design results show that a healing space designed with biophilic principles can not only improve mental health, but also enrich the quality of public spaces in the city. Its strategic location and connectivity with health facilities strengthen the function of this space as an integral part of sustainable urban planning. By combining natural therapies and modern design, this research offers a new perspective in creating a more inclusive, healthy and environmentally friendly city.
