This research explores the relationship between the Batak ethnic community and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in Kwala Bekala Village, Medan Johor, Medan City. The area is predominantly inhabited by Batak people, indicating that ethnic identity plays a significant role in shaping political preferences. The aim is to examine how PDIP builds connections with Batak voters and how Batak communities perceive PDIP as an ethnic representative party. Using a qualitative method with in-depth interviews and documentation, the study finds that PDIP leverages ethnic representation and Batak cultural values to strengthen its political support.
