Adolescence is a period marked by the transition from childhood to adulthood, during which hormonal, physical, and psychological changes occur gradually. The ability to regulate emotions is different from suppressing emotions. Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) focuses on how individuals think, feel, and behave in order to manage emotional challenges. This study aims to identify the effect of REBT on adolescents’ ability to manage emotions. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pre-post with control group design, comparing the intervention and control groups before and after the intervention. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The total sample consisted of 80 respondents, with 40 respondents in each group. The results showed that, prior to the intervention, most adolescents in the intervention group had a moderate level of emotional regulation (34 individuals or 85%), followed by high (4 individuals or 10%) and low (2 individuals or 5%). After receiving REBT, the majority of adolescents in the intervention group demonstrated a high level of emotional regulation (31 individuals or 77.5%), with the remaining 9 individuals (22.5%) in the moderate category. A significant difference in emotional regulation was observed in the intervention group before and after receiving REBT, with a p-value of 0.000. Meanwhile, no significant difference was found in the control group, with a p-value of 0.766. The provision of REBT has a significant impact on improving emotional regulation in adolescents.
