    Abstract
Elections are one of the instruments used to implement the principles of democracy. General elections in the Philippines often involve the practice of dynasty politics, where power is inherited within the family circle or close relatives. In the 2016 and 2022 Philippine Presidential and Vice Presidential elections, there were several candidates who were suspected of dynasty politics. The phenomenon of dynasty politics in the Philippines is something that often occurs in the country. There are two levels of Philippine dynasty politics, namely national dynasty politics and local dynasty politics. National dynasty politics is a group of families who have held the positions of President and Vice President and re-place their families in those positions, while local dynasty politics is a group of families who control a certain area and hold positions such as Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Governor, Deputy Governor, and Member of the House of Representatives. The purpose of this study is to determine the development of dynasty politics in the Philippines, and to determine dynasty politics in the 2016 and 2022 Philippine Presidential and Vice Presidential elections. The method used in this study is Qualitative Descriptive. The results of this study are that the practice of dynasty politics in the Philippines has existed since the colonial era, where during the colonial era, voting rights and government positions were limited to certain people. And in the 2016 and 2022 presidential elections, there were several candidates indicated as having dynasty politics both at the national and local levels, and there was a new dynasty politics at the national level. The suggestion in this study is for the Philippines to clarify the dynasty politics law so that it can be implemented.
