Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of competency development and job placement, both partially and simultaneously, on employee job satisfaction at the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of North Sumatra. This research applies a quantitative associative approach with a total of 92 operational employees at the Regional Office as respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with multiple linear regression. The results show that competency development and job placement have a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction, both partially and simultaneously. In other words, improving competency development through appropriate training and education, as well as managing job placement based on the principle of the right man on the right place, can enhance employee job satisfaction. Therefore, it is recommended that the agency pay greater attention to the planning and evaluation of competency development programs and job placement strategies to support employee satisfaction and performance.
