This research aims to develop a 10 kg digital scale equivalent to a commercial
digital scale, to facilitate sales activities, particularly in displaying weight and
price directly on the LCD screen. The device is designed using a load cell sensor,
HX711 module, Arduino Nano, and a 16x2 LCD as the output display.
The method used is a quantitative approach through experimentation,
measurement, and numerical data analysis. The research focuses on system
design, calibration, and performance testing. The main objectives are: (1) to test
the performance and accuracy of the digital scale using a load cell sensor and
display the measurements digitally on an LCD; (2) to calibrate and test the digital
scale to ensure that the measurement results are in accordance with the applied
load capacity; and (3) to compare the test results with standard measurement
outcomes.
The test results showed that using sugar alone produced a total error of 1.75 kg
with a correction of -1.75 kg. Meanwhile, the combination of sugar and a 200-
gram standard weight produced stable readings and accurately reflected the actual
weight of the sugar, with a total error of 0.42 kg and a correction of -0.42 kg.
In conclusion, this digital scale is feasible to be used as a simple alternative
measuring device with fairly good accuracy, and it can support both trade and
educational needs.
