Adolescents are individuals aged between 10 and 19 years old. Currently, Indonesia is facing three major nutritional problems (triple burden), namely macro nutrient deficiency, micro nutrient deficiency and macro nutrient excess. This study uses a quantitative approach with comparative study research, aiming to compare the values of one or more variables in two or more populations. The sample size for this study was 102 junior high school students, determined using the Slovin formula. Data on energy, carbohydrate, protein and fat intake were collected using the 2 x 24-hour Food Recall method, while data on food groups were collected using the Food Frequency method, focusing on the past month. The results of the Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no difference in energy consumption between urban and suburban areas. There was no difference in carbohydrate consumption between urban and suburban areas. There was a difference in protein consumption between urban and suburban areas. There was no difference in fat consumption between urban and suburban areas. There was no difference in staple food groups between urban and suburban areas. There was a difference between legume groups in urban and suburban areas. There was a difference between animal-based side dish groups in urban and suburban areas. There was a difference between vegetable groups in urban and suburban areas. There was no difference between fruit groups in urban and suburban areas. There was no difference between dairy and dairy product groups in urban and suburban areas. There was a difference between oil and fat groups in urban and suburban areas. There are differences between the fast food and snack food groups in urban and suburban areas. It is hoped that schools can provide regular nutrition education to students about the importance of consuming a balanced, nutritious diet.
